South Alabama has added former Memphis wide receiver Javon Ivory to its program for the 2023 season, AL.com has confirmed.

Ivory, who played his high school football at Clarke County in Grove Hill, has two seasons of eligibility remaining. He is enrolled in spring semester classes at USA and will compete in spring practice.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Ivory has caught 98 passes for 1,335 yards and eight touchdowns the last three seasons at Memphis. A three-star prospect in the 2019 class, he caught 46 passes for 586 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games in 2022.

South Alabama must replace three-year starting wide receiver Jalen Wayne, but returns highly productive veterans Devin Voisin and Caullin Lacy. The Jaguars also signed junior-college transfer Shamar Sandgren in December.

Ivory is the fourth Division I transfer to join the South Alabama program since the end of the 2022 season, joining offensive linemen Reed Buys (Mississippi State) and Jordan Davis (South Carolina) and running back Kentrel Bullock (Ole Miss). The Jaguars could add a handful more in the coming days.

Ivory has not officially announced his commitment to South Alabama, but he did recently change his Twitter bio to “Wide Receiver at the University of South Alabama.”
