Sneak Peek: âMy Big Fat Fabulous Lifeâ hits an Alabama crawfish boil
Fans of TLC’s reality series “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” and fans of Alabama’s coastline, got to see star Whitney Way Thore meet some previously unknown kin on Dauphin Island last week. On Tuesday, island time continues.
In the episode that premiered Oct. 10, The Thore delegation from North Carolina – Whitney, her father Glenn and her brother Hunter – met up with Whitney’s half-sister Angie and her family, who were vacationing on the island. “I’m meeting my half-sister, and her three children, and her grandchild,” Whitney Thore told a friend beforehand. “It’s a lot.”
According to a network synopsis, the episode coming up on Oct. 17 shows more of the Lower Alabama get-together: “The house is abuzz after the family dance-off, but the competition is just beginning as Whitney refuses to lose to her new niece,” says information published by TLC. “Whitney’s nephew introduces her to a new potential suitor. Glenn and Angie finally discuss the nature of their relationship.”
TLC provided AL.com with a preview clip that shows the visitors making peace – somewhat uneasily – with a culinary experience that’s a little bit outside their comfort zone: A crawfish boil.
“It was very interesting,” says “Whitney Thore, looking puzzled even after the experience. “It was like a community event. I mean, not really any plates or like tables or seats, everybody just you know, eating and sucking.” She illustrates with a few noises and grimaces. “I was like, OK, we are really doing it, no holds barred around here.”
Glenn Thore takes to it a little more readily than his daughter, even though he comments that the food is “a little spicier than I anticipated.”
The compliment earns him some key advice from a local: “Wash your hands before you go pee.”
