Small plane crash reported in north Alabama

Emergency response agencies are on the scene of what’s being described as a small plane crash that occurred Saturday in north Alabama.

According to multiple media reports, the plane went down around 2 p.m. Saturday near Mt. Olive Drive in the Albertville area.

Mt. Olive Drive and Childmark Drive are both closed to all traffic other than first responders and residents who live in the area.

Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims told the Sand Mountain Reporter newspaper that it was too early to release additional details as of Saturday afternoon. Sims told the newspaper that numerous local emergency response agencies were on the scene, and that the Federal Aviation Administration had been notified and was en route to the scene.

TV station WAFF in Huntsville reports that one person was killed in the crash.
