Slutty Vegan reopens in Birmingham after temporary shutdown
Slutty Vegan has reopened its Birmingham location after dealing with “an unforeseen mechanical issue” that caused the restaurant to be closed for about a week.
The vegan fast food joint at 5 55th Place South shut its doors on Friday, Dec. 30, and remained closed through Friday, Jan. 6, according to Slutty Vegan’s posts on Facebook and Instagram. The restaurant re-opened on Saturday, Jan. 7, and has resumed its normal hours. Details weren’t immediately available on the mechanical problems faced by the restaurant.
“Hey Sluts! We are so grateful for the continued support as we’re back open in Birmingham, Alabama just in time for #SluttySaturday!,” Slutty Vegan said Saturday morning on social media. “BIRMINGHAM is now back open Tuesday-Saturday to our normal hours! Text us “BIRMINGHAM” to 678-846-3255 for all things #SluttyBHAM. Thank you for always supporting SV. We love you BIRMINGHAM!!”
Slutty Vegan, based in Atlanta, opened its first Alabama location in August 2022 with a burst of fanfare, serving “bangin’ plant-based” burgers, fries, other sandwiches, sides and desserts in a brightly colored storefront in Birmingham’s Woodlawn neighborhood.
The takeout restaurant founded by Pinky Cole is extremely popular in Georgia, where customers have been known to stand in long lines, patiently waiting to grab a bite. Slutty Vegan lists seven locations on its website, including Birmingham, and two more on the way.
Slutty Vegan also has a food truck that came to Birmingham in September 2020.
