If I was a preacher, I’d wanna go where the sinners are. Las Vegas. Maybe Theodore, or Walker County. But as a cartoonist, I feast off of corrupt, bass-ackward, ignorant, arrogant goofy politicians. In Alabama, I have found my Mecca.
For the past 23 years, I have been blessed with a target-rich environment stocked with some of the most corrupt, goofiest, bass-ackward goober politicians money and bad decisions can buy. Most days at the AL.com drawing board, I’m fat, happy and squealing like a hog in slop. I can’t imagine a better place to do this work.
One of the perks of my job is interacting with you, the readers. I love hearing from you, even when you’re cranky. We’re in this together. We laugh. We cry. We do the awkward hug thing. Y’all call me bad names. It’s all good.
‘I’m gonna do some things I ain’t never done before’
Friends, it’s time to take our awkward, interactive relationship to a new, more disturbing level. To borrow a phrase from Hazel Motes, one of my favorite Flannery O’Connor characters from her novel, Wise Blood: “I’m gonna do some things I ain’t never done before.”
And I wanna take y’all along for the ride.
I invite you to subscribe to my brand-spankin’ new weekly newsletter – it’s actually more of an amuse-letter. It’s called Crowe Jam. It’s free, easy and it’s gonna be fun. The Crowe Jam amuse-letter will be delivered to your email inbox every Wednesday morning. Just enter your email address in the graphic at the top to subscribe.
You’ll receive my latest toons and essays about current events and Alabama politics, but there will be much more just-for-fun stuff in the amuse-letter. Caption contests? Yes! Crowe Jam is where I’ll let it all hang out.
I’m a preacher’s kid who grew up in the hollers of Kentucky surrounded by colorful characters, villains and varmints. I’ve got stories to tell. We’ll do some story-swappin’, you and me. I’ll tell you mine and you’ll tell me yours. Your best stories and comments might get published. Your worst ones will be glorified and justified.
Subscribe to Crowe Jam, y’all. Let’s jam, dammit.
