Shots fired during sale of cell phone in Pelham shopping center parking lot; 1 injured, 1 sought
Gunfire rang out in the parking lot of a Pelham shopping center Sunday night, sending one person to the hospital.
The incident happened about 6:45 p.m. at Southgate Village on U.S. 31.
Police officials said at least two people were meeting to carry out the sale of a cell phone. It’s unclear what took place next, but one of those involved fired three shots.
The shooting victim was struck twice in the leg and was taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspect left the area in a vehicle.
Pelham and Hoover police responded to the scene and set up a perimeter.
Investigators are conducting interviews and looking at the physical evidence.
