Shots fired during Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, 2 in custody, per reports

Kansas City police responded Wednesday to a shooting near the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally at Union Station where officials said two armed people were detained.

Several people, per the Kansas City Star, have been shot.

“At the conclusion of the rally there were shots fired west of Union Station near the garage and several people were struck,” Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department, told the Star.

The Star reports scanner traffic indicated that there might have been as many as nine people shot.

According to reports, at the conclusion of the rally, there were shots fired west of Union Station near the garage and several people were struck, a KCPD spokesperson said, per Fox 4.

Two armed people have been detained, pending further investigation, police posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Minutes after Kansas City Chiefs players vowed to go for a third-straight Super Bowl title, shots were fired.

Ambulances responded to the seen, and officers rushed toward the area with guns drawn. No details were immediately released.
