An investigation is underway after a shooting Tuesday at an Irondale workplace.

Irondale police received multiple 911 calls shortly before noon reporting an altercation between employees located at a business in the 2900 block of Alton Road.

That location is Wood Fruitticher Grocery Co. Inc.

Officers arrived and quickly took one man into custody, said Sgt. Brian Hassett.

A second man was found shot. He was taken by Irondale Fire and Rescue to UAB Hospital.

The extent of his injuries was not released, but the wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.

Hassett said detectives are working to gather evidence, interview witnesses and determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Hassett said more information will be released as it becomes available.
