Gunfire outside of a Birmingham gentleman’s club earlier Monday left two bystanders wounded, one of them critically.

Officers were dispatched just after 3 a.m. to Playhouse II in the 400 block of Second Avenue North on a report of people shot.

When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. His injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening, said Sgt. LaQuitta Wade.

The second victim – a woman – was found inside a crashed vehicle. She was taken to UAB Hospital in critical condition.

The male, Wade said, went to the hospital in a private vehicle.

The preliminary investigation indicates gunfire was exchanged by two people, wounding the innocent bystanders.

The male victim was standing outside of Playhouse II, Wade said, and the was traveling in vehicle and passing the club when she was shot.

No arrests have been made.

It was less than a year ago that a man was shot to death outside Playhouse II.
