Shooting victim found dead inside East Lake shed ID’d as 20-year-old Birmingham man
Authorities have released the name of a man killed Friday in a shooting in East lake.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the victim as Paul Devaried Terry Jr. He was 20 and lived in Birmingham.
Just before 12:30 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a person shot in the 8300 block of Fourth Avenue North.
When they arrived, they found the victim inside a shed behind an abandoned house. That property is adjacent to East Lake Park.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced Terry man dead on the scene at 12:40 p.m.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said Terry was in the neighborhood to visit someone at a home in the 8200 block of Fourth Avenue North.
The person he went to visit had another visitor and a verbal altercation ensued between Terry and the other visitor.

The suspect fired at least several shots. Police found shell casings in the roadway.
Terry ran just over a block before collapsing in the shed. A bystander called 911.
Wade said she did not yet know the nature of the argument. No arrests have been announced.
Terry was one of two people killed in Birmingham on Friday.
Kerry Terrell Primm, 30, was shot to death just outside of his home in the 1800 block of 31st Street in the Ensley Highlands community.
There have been 130th homicide this year in Birmingham. Of those, nine have been ruled justifiable and two others happened in previous years, but the victims died in 2024.
At this time last year, there had been 103 homicides in the city.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 164 homicides, including the 130 in Birmingham. As of Oct. 14, 2023, there had been 145 homicides countywide.
