Shooting supect arrested after standoff at Birmingham apartment
A 30-year-old Birmingham man is in custody after a standoff in northern Birmingham.
North Precinct officers were dispatched about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate the robbery and shooting of a man. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and told police he knew his attacker.
Police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Tarrence Jennings and learned he was barricaded inside his apartment in the 2900 block of 12th Avenue North, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
The police department’s SWAT team responded and eventually took Jennings into custody.
Officers learned Jennings had an outstanding warrant for domestic violence stemming from an unrelated incident.
Jennings is being held in the Birmingham City Jail and faces new charges of robbery and felony assault.
