Shooting in Birminghamâs Norwood community leaves 2 dead, 1 wounded
Gunfire erupted in northern Birmingham Wednesday night, leaving two people dead and a third seriously injured.
The shooting happened just after 8:30 p.m.
Birmingham police and Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the Chevron/Norwood Convenience in the 3000 block of 12th Avenue North.
Once there, first responders found three people wounded. The victims were in a vehicle when they were shot.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the shooting happened there, or if the victims drove to the store for help. Police, however, could be heard on the radio “looking for a scene” and employees at the Shell station across the street said they did not hear any shots fired.
Their vehicle, a small white sedan, is riddled with bullets and stopped in the middle of the parking lot with its flashers on.
Two of the victims were pronounced dead on the scene. The third was taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
No one is in custody.
