Shoals man charged with child abuse while waiting trial for manslaughter
A Muscle Shoals man indicted for manslaughter is now facing child abuse charges, according to court records.
James Whiteside, 42, was booked into the Colbert County jail Sept. 28 on charges of willful abuse of a child under 18 and two counts of chemical endangerment of a child. Bond is set at $35,000, according to the sheriff’s department.
In 2021, Whiteside arrested and charged with manslaughter in shooting in Sheffield that injured three. One man, Kalyn Tyjuane Horrison, later died.
Whiteside paid $30,000 bond in 2022 and was scheduled to stand trial on the manslaughter charge in February 2024.
