Shipt launches new rewards program for shoppers

Birmingham-based Shipt today is unveiling a new shopper rewards program, with a slate of gas discounts, grocery credits and wellness perks.

The perks came after feedback with Shipt shoppers, and employ a three-tiered structure rewarding shoppers with high ratings.

Shipt COO Raj Kapoor said the the program recognizes extra effort from shoppers.

“Even someone who only shops a few hours a week can take advantage of this program,” Kapoor said. “Because the Shipt Summit Seeker Program was built in collaboration with shoppers, it rewards them for high quality service with some of the things shoppers value most.”

The program prioritizes quality of shopping over quantity, according to the company, as more than 80% of Shipt’s shoppers choose to work less than 10 hours a week with the shopping app.

The three tiers are called Wayfinder, Trailblazer and Summit Star. To qualify at the Wayfinder level, shoppers must have at least a 4.70 rating, 90% on-time delivery percentage and have completed 10 orders. All shoppers will have their qualifications re-evaluated every 60 days.

The most requested perk from shoppers from a survey last year was gas discounts. Those shoppers at the Summit Star tier will receive up to $1 per gallon cash back for two fill-ups during each 60 day period. After the two fill-ups, shoppers may still be able to access up to 25 cents per gallon cash back.

Up to 70% of shoppers surveyed wanted grocery credits, so shoppers in the Summit Star tier earn a $50 credit in their own Shipt member account to be used on purchases at a retailer of their choice, the company said.

And using a partnership with wellness company Avibra, eligible shoppers can receive injury protection insurance, $1,000 in life insurance, $10,000 of AD&D coverage, housing, debt and credit counseling, a 24/7 well-being advisor and a prescription savings program, all at no cost.

Shoppers registered with Avibra will also have access to the company’s Dollar Benefit Store. For $1 a week, they can access roadside assistance, dental and vision, chiropractic and alternative medicine, critical illness, group fitness classes, mental health support and more.
