A search involving a helicopter and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies for a 34-year-old man whose family said went kayak fishing in a lake on Saturday turned up no signs of Richard Douglas Fields on Monday, authorities said.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were notified 2:20 p.m. Monday that Fields had not been seen or heard from since about 4 p.m. Saturday, when Fields’ family said he told them he was going to Bayview Lake to go kayak fishing.

The sheriff’s office’s Star One helicopter was deployed in a search of the area for Fields.

The search is scheduled to continue on Tuesday, the office said.
