Sheffield murder suspect arrested in Huntsville

A man sought by Sheffield police in connection with a deadly shooting Tuesday is behind bars.

Dedrick Deshann Pride, 40, of Decatur, was booked into the Colbert County Jail this morning, according to jail records. He is charged with murder and is being held without bond.

Sheffield police identified Pride earlier this week in connection with the fatal shooting of a man Tuesday morning.

Chief Ricky Terry said Pride was spotted in Huntsville and arrested by Huntsville police. Pride also had a handgun in his possession that police believe was used during the homicide.

The body of Thomas James Hairrell, 64, of Sheffield, was found at about 4:55 a.m. Tuesday at 812 West Montgomery Ave., Apartment B.

Police responded to a call of an unconscious person found Hairrell with gunshot wounds, lying beside the front door.
