‘She was loved’: 20-year-old Prattville woman killed in head-on crash that injured 2 others

A Prattville woman was killed in a head-on crash in Chilton County that also injured two others, including a teen.

Alabama State Troopers on Wednesday identified the victim as Lindsey R. Lugen. She was 20.

The wreck happened at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 82, about one mile southwest of Maplesville.

ALEA Lt. Jeremy Burkett said Lugen was driving a Hyundai Sonata that hit the back of a Chevrolet Corvette.

After the initial impact, Lugen’s car then collided head-on with a Chrysler Town and Country driven by 63-year-old Anna L. Walker of Tuscaloosa.

Lugen was pronounced dead on the scene.

Walker was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. A 17-year-old passenger in Walker’s Chrysler was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

The investigation is ongoing by troopers.

Lugen was a student at Sanders Aviation in Tuscaloosa.

“She was loved,” said her older sister, Karlie Lugen.

Karlie Lugen posted posted this on Facebook and gave AL.com permission to share her post:

“To my beautiful little Lindsey,

“This is something I never thought I would have to write. You were the most perfect, loving, and godly woman. I take such comfort in the fact that you are now with the Lord. I know he will take care of you and love you for us. This comfort does not stop us all from missing you immensely. It is very hard for me to imagine my life without my little sister. I love you Choop.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭18‬

“This verse has appeared to me three times in the past day. The first time was when I opened Lindsey’s Bible to her bookmark last night. Then twice more when our friends were comforting us with God’s word. I think that was Lindsey’s way of repeatedly letting me know that it’s all okay.

“May all those missing Lindsey alongside us remember that we will once again see her. It will be a long wait but I am already looking forward to that day.”
