Shannon Terry calls out Nick Sabanâs bullying, tells media to push back, picks Texas by double digits
The CEO of On3 stirred the college football pot Sunday, calling out Alabama coach Nick Saban for being disrespectful to the local media.
Shannon Terry is the latest to accuse Saban of bullying the local media after Paul Finebaum and Tim Brando had similar takes last week.
“Going to take some bullets for this one, but it needs to be said,” Terry said in a now-deleted post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “I have tremendous respect for coach Saban as a coach and CEO. He is the greatest college coach and college coach CEO in history. But the way, he treats the local sports media is disrespectful and uncivil.”
Terry encouraged local media to push back.
As you might imagine, the pushback came on social media and was directed at Terry, who deleted the post. Some even called for boycotting On3 as a result. Terry followed the post with an explanation, saying he had no beef with Saban, it was simply an observation he made from recent press conferences.
Last week, and prior to both teams’ season-opening wins, Terry predicted the Texas Longhorns, who travel to Tuscaloosa on Saturday, will beat the Tide by 10 or more points.
Terry isn’t the first to call out Saban. Also last week, Finebaum , an SEC Network analyst, said Saban displayed petulance and indecision in addition to bullying the local media by refusing to release a depth chart.
“What I don’t like – and everybody in Alabama gets mad – is the bullying of the media,” Finebaum said. “Don’t bully people because you can. Saban has made a career of bullying people who are weaker than him. … It’s not a good look.”
Meanwhile, Brando, a Fox Sports commentator, called Saban out for the hesitation, calling it beneath the GOAT.
“Nick Saban’s not delivering a depth chart is beneath him, despite likely giving the guys calling the game some semblance of lineups,” Brando posted on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter. “He should be above that, but, clearly, these days he’s not in the best of moods.”
