Shane Beamerâs son didnât tell him about Halloween parade: âYouâre 2-6 and need to be … workingâ
Your criticism of Shane Beamer doesn’t really bother him. He gets far worse at home.
He does have an issue when you take a shot at his Gamecocks.
To his point, the South Carolina coach gets criticism everywhere, including home. It was a point he illustrated Tuesday when meeting with the media.
“I get an opinion at home,” he said. “… I can take the criticism. I’m a big boy. This is not Shane saying he can’t take criticism because that’s what I signed up for as the head coach of this university. … I can take criticism because I get it from own family.
“I leave in the mornings before my wife and kids even get up. I facetime my wife and kids every morning at 7:30 on their way into school. Today, they were telling me that Hunter, my son, has a Halloween parade at his school. … I was there for it last year because it was on a Monday. My wife was telling me that he had that today and I said, ‘Why didn’t you guys tell me anything about it?’ Emily said, ‘I knew you had practice and meetings, and I didn’t you would be able to come.’ My son said, ‘It’s because you’re 2-6 and need to be in the office working. Please don’t think I can’t take criticism because I get it worse at home.”
South Carolina faces Jacksonville State on Saturday.
Max Johnson threw for 249 yards and a touchdown and Texas A&M snapped a two-game skid with a 30-17 win over South Carolina. The game was tied late in the second quarter before the Aggies scored two touchdowns in less than a minute to take a 21-7 lead into halftime.
The Gamecocks cut it to 21-10 on a 49-yard field goal early in the third quarter and cut it to a touchdown on a score early in the fourth. But they couldn’t do anything on offense after that as A&M coasted to the win.
