Severe weather in Alabama leaves 125,000 without power: Storm pictures and video
Roughly 125,000 Alabama Power customers were without electricity as of about 6:30 Sunday morning after storms swept the state Saturday night.
Two people suffered minor injuries when what was possibly a tornado heavily damaged a building in Hale County, according to the National Weather Service.
Tree struck houses in Helena in Shelby County, near Irondale in Jefferson county and in Blount, Calhoun, Etowah, Fayette, Hale and Tallapoosa counties.
Wind gusts up to 70 mph were reported in Montgomery County.
Damaging wind downed trees and power lines in parts of Barbour, Blount, Chambers, Coosa, Elmore, Fayette, Hale, Lamar, Lee, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Randolph, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.
Trees were also downed near Calera in Shelby County and in Moody and Pell City in St. Clair County.
