Alabama is facing the prospect of another round of severe weather on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Tornadoes, damaging winds, flooding rain and hail will all be possible. Forecasters expect a line of storms to sweep from west to east across the state, most likely during the nighttime and overnight hours of Friday into early Saturday.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has put the northwestern part of the state in a severe weather risk for Friday.

However, the weather service in Birmingham thinks all of its forecast area in central Alabama could see strong to severe storms.

Weather service offices in Huntsville and Mobile were monitoring the prospect of severe weather in their regions as well. Both noted that strong storms were more likely west of the Interstate 65 corridor.

Friday’s round of weather could also bring heavy rain to Alabama, and NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center has a Level 2 out of 4 risk for flash flooding for parts of central and north Alabama.

The weather service in Huntsville said 1.5 to 2 inches of rain will be possible for parts of the state through Saturday.

Unsettled weather is expected to last through the weekend, and another system expected on Sunday and Monday will be watched in case it brings severe storms along with it.
