Severe storms, tornado hit north Alabama: Latest on damage; pics and video

A confirmed tornado was reported Tuesday night in the Huntsville metro area as severe weather threatened much of Alabama, the National Weather Service reported.

Baseball size hail was reported in Lawrence County, in the Red Bank area south of Wheeler Dam, according to emergency management services.

Trees were down in Colbert, Lauderdale, Marshall, and Morgan counties from storms earlier in the day.

A tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. in Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall and Morgan counties.

Another is in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday in Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston counties.
