Selma firefighter charged in deadly shooting, held on $1.5 million bond

A Selma firefighter is behind bars, accused in the weekend shooting death of another man.

Benjamin Jackie, 27, is charged with murder, Police Chief Kenta Fulford announced Monday.

Selma police were dispatched at 9:36 p.m. Sunday to a report of someone shot in the 2100 block of Minter Avenue.

Fulford said they arrived to find a man on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Jackie was taken into custody at the scene. He is being held on $1.5 million.

City officials said more information would be released Tuesday.
