The Birmingham News prep staff selects the top five performances in the Birmingham area in both boys and girls competition from the previous week of play.

This week’s performances include players with double-doubles, 30-point games and a landmark win.

5. Sarah Gordon, Vestavia Hills (girls)

Led the Class 7A third-ranked Rebels to wins over Tuscaloosa County and rival Hoover. The 6-foot junior had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the 56-29 win against Tuscaloosa County, adding 18 points in the 43-42 win over fifth-ranked Hoover, the first girls win over the Bucs in 18 years.
