See the first trailer for âLove in Fairhope,â new Hulu series
“Love in Fairhope,” a new reality show filmed on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay, hits Hulu this month – and for the first time, a trailer offers a feel for what viewers will learn about romance in a picturesque Southern town so small that “your dating app comes up empty after two swipes.”
That characterization might take some residents of the 12th-fastest-growing metropolitan area in the nation by surprise, what with the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley population including a quarter-million people or so. But please don’t shoot the messenger; that’s how narrator Heather Graham puts it in the trailer. And to be fair, Fairhope has worked hard to maintain its small-town charms.
The trailer, released Wednesday, adds a lot to the little previously known about the show. Back in March, Hulu confirmed that it was backing the show and that the people behind it included actress Reese Witherspoon. She’s one of the show’s executive producers and Hello Sunshine, a media company she co-founded, is one of three studios involved.
The trailer, first shared by People but now available on YouTube, introduces the five women featured: Abby Mannich, Claiborne Walsh, LaShoundra Young, Mya Jo Williams and Olivia Ogletree. Their ages and situations vary widely, according to a rundown at people.com: 21-year-old college graduate Williams finds herself in a love triangle involving a childhood crush and a high-school boyfriend, while Walsh, 76, begins dating after the death of her husband of 55 years. Ogletree, “daughter of town socialite and real estate mogul Paige Dawson,” pursues a same-sex relationship.
According to the trailer, the show will premiere Sept. 27 on Hulu. www.hulu.com currently lists information on nine episodes. Comingsoon.net and other viewing guides report that all episodes will be released at once.
