See 7 game-changing AHSAA regional performances from Day 8

The state’s top high school basketball teams continue to battle for the right to come to Birmingham to play in next week’s Alabama High School Athletic Association final four and a shot at a state championship.

All four regionals were in full swing with champs being decided in Class 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A action.

Each day during the regionals, the Lede will rank the key efforts that highlighted the day. Here are Wednesday’s key performances:

7. John Morris, Trinity (boys, Central)

The 6-foot-4 junior forward poured in 26 points in a 58-47 loss to Sumter Central in the Central Regional title game at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham. Morris made 7-of-15 field goals, 4-of-8 on 3-pointers, and hit 8-of-11 from the foul line. He also blocked 2 shots and had an assist and a steal.
