Second suspect charged with capital murder in deadly Montgomery shooting

A second suspect has been charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting last month of a 22-year-old man in Montgomery, police said Monday.

William Melendez, 22, of Montgomery, was taken intro custody Saturday in connection with the fatal June 9 shooting of 22-year-old Noel Avido Lopez, said Sgt. Saba Coleman.

Melendez is being held without bond in the Montgomery County jail on a charge of capital murder.

He is the second suspect charged with capital murder in connection with Lopez’s death.

Yesman Bardales-Antunez, 18, was captured last month Jefferson County and charged with Lopez’s death.

The charges are capital because the victim was in a vehicle when he was fatally shot.
