SEC top 10 for Week 12: Vols challenge Georgia’s national-best home winning streak

The four conference and four non-conference games on Saturday’s SEC slate feature two matchups of teams appearing in this week’s CFP rankings, with Tennessee visiting Georgia and Missouri at South Carolina. Here are 10 stats from SEC Football by the Numbers, along with the schedule, TV and betting lines, to get ready for Week 12:

0 LSU coaches have defeated Florida in his first three meetings with the Gators. The Tigers visit Florida on Saturday with Brian Kelly at 2-0 versus the Gators as LSU’s coach. The Tigers defeated Florida 45-35 in 2022 and 52-35 in 2023 as Kelly joined Charles McClendon as the LSU coaches who won in their first two games against Florida. McClendon lost Game No. 3 against Florida 20-6 in 1964. After winning the past five meetings, LSU leads the series 34-33-3, while Florida has a 16-15-3 lead in Gainesville, where Saturday’s game will be played.

1 Previous Missouri-South Carolina game featured two teams ranked in The Associated Press poll. On Oct. 26, 2013, No. 20 South Carolina upended No. 5 Missouri 27-23. On Saturday, No. 24 Missouri visits No. 23 South Carolina. (In the CFP rankings, the Gamecocks are No. 21 and the Tigers are No. 23.) Missouri has won the past five meetings for the Mayors’ Cup Trophy. The contest is one of the three trophy games on South Carolina’s schedule. The Gamecocks already have won the Bonham Trophy by defeating Texas A&M 44-20 on Nov. 2 and will play Clemson on Nov. 30 for the Palmetto Bowl trophy.

3 Alabama players have at least six rushing TDs this season. The Crimson Tide is the only team in the nation with more than two such players. QB Jalen Milroe has 16 rushing TDs, RB Jam Miller has seven and RB Justice Haynes has six. Alabama also is the only SEC team and among 11 teams nationally with three ball-carriers with 370 or more rushing yards. Milroe has 565 yards on 114 carries, Miller has 488 yards on 87 carries and Haynes has 373 yards on 63 carries.

8 Teams in the nation have used the same five offensive-line starters in every game this season, including SEC members South Carolina and Texas. The other teams with the same starting offensive line the entire season have been Indiana, Kansas, Syracuse, Texas State, Tulane and Wisconsin.

10 Consecutive Tennessee opponents have failed to reach 20 points against the Volunteers. The streak started with a 35-0 shutout of Iowa in the Citrus Bowl to cap the 2023 season. This is the first season in which Tennessee has held its first nine opponents to fewer than 20 points apiece since 1966, when Tennessee did so in all 11 of its games. The Volunteers’ Saturday opponent, Georgia, has averaged scoring 30.6 points per game in 2024. The Bulldogs have scored fewer than 20 points in two games this season – a 13-12 victory over Kentucky on Sept. 14 and a 28-10 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday.

22 Consecutive non-conference regular-season games have been won by Kentucky – the second-longest such streak in the nation. Kentucky’s most recent loss in a non-conference regular-season game is a 44-17 setback against Louisville on Nov. 25, 2017. The Wildcats will try to extend their streak against Murray State on Saturday. Georgia owns the nation’s longest active winning streak in non-conference regular-season play at 26 games, dating from a 28-27 loss to Georgia Tech on Nov. 26, 2016.

28 Consecutive home games have been won by Georgia, the longest such streak in school history and the longest current streak in the nation. The home streak began with a 21-0 shutout of Kentucky on Oct. 19, 2019, a week after a 20-17 loss to South Carolina at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs will seek to extend the streak against Tennessee on Saturday. Georgia has not lost to an SEC opponent at Sanford Stadium in November since Kentucky scored a 34-27 victory in Athens on Nov. 21, 2009. The Bulldogs’ winning streak covers 16 games with four victories over Kentucky, four over Auburn, three over Missouri, two over Ole Miss, one over Texas A&M, one over Mississippi State and one over Tennessee.

33 Years since the previous time that Arkansas and Texas squared off as conference rivals. The Razorbacks and Longhorns played every season from 1932 through 1991 as members of the Southwest Conference. Arkansas defeated Texas 14-13 on Oct. 19, 1991, then started play in the SEC the next season. Since that game, the teams have met in six non-conference contests. On Saturday, the Longhorns and Razorbacks will meet in Fayetteville in Texas’ first season as an SEC member. Texas leads the series 56-23.

87 Rushing yards are needed by RB Jarquez Hunter against ULM on Saturday to record the 30th 1,000-yard rushing season in Auburn history. Hunter has 913 yards and five TDs on 132 rushing attempts in 2024. The Tigers’ 1,000-yard rushers have been Monk Gafford in 1942, Jimmy Sidle in 1963, Joe Cribbs in 1978 and 1979, James Brooks in 1979 and 1980, Bo Jackson in 1983 and 1985, Brent Fullwood in 1986, James Bostic in 1993, Stephen Davis in 1994 and 1995, Rudi Johnson in 2000, Ronnie Brown in 2002, Cadillac Williams in 2003 and 2004, Kenny Irons in 2005, Ben Tate in 2009, Cam Newton in 2010, Michael Dyer in 2010 and 2011, Tre Mason in 2012 and 2013, Nick Marshall in 2013, Cameron Artis-Payne in 2014, Peyton Barber in 2015, Kamryn Pettway in 2016, Kerryon Johnson in 2017 and Tank Bigsby in 2021.

772 Rushing yards against SEC competition for Tennessee RB Dylan Sampson this season, an average of 128.7 per game that’s the best within the conference by 22 yards per game. Sampson also has the most rushing TDs in SEC games this season with 11. Sampson and the Volunteers play Georgia on Saturday. The Bulldogs have yielded an average of 110.9 rushing yards per game in all contests this season and 119.4 rushing yards per game in conference competition.
