The SEC wasted no time billing Tennessee for Saturday night’s postgame celebration following a 52-49 win over Alabama.

The invoice for $100,000 is the fine for a second violation of the league rule prohibition fans from entering the playing field after a game. The first offense came at a 2006 Vol basketball win over Florida. A third offense would bring a $250,000 fine.

This was a familiar scene when Alabama loses road games.

The last true road-game loss that didn’t see fans flood the field came in 2010 when LSU beat the Tide, 24-21. Auburn has been fined three times for Iron Bowl wins in 2013, 2017 and 2019 while Ole Miss (2014) and Texas A&M (2021) also donated to SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund, where such fines are deposited.

Tennessee’s thrilling win broke a 15-year losing streak to Alabama as both goalposts came crashing down into the orange mob.
