SEC Football by the Numbers: Top 10 for Week 11

SEC Football by the Numbers: Top 10 for Week 11

The 11th Saturday of the SEC’s 91st season features seven conference contests. Here are 10 numbers, along with the schedule, TV and betting lines, to get ready for Week 11:

0 Previous games between Georgia and Ole Miss with both teams ranked in the top 10. Georgia leads the series 32-13-1. In four of those 46 games, both teams have been ranked. Georgia has won three of those games between ranked teams, but Ole Miss won the teams’ most recent meeting as the No. 23 Rebels upended the No. 12 Bulldogs 45-14 on Sept. 24, 2016. For Saturday’s meeting, Georgia is No. 1 in the AP Poll and No. 2 in the CFP rankings, and Ole Miss is No. 10 in the AP Poll and No. 9 in the CFP rankings.

3 Successive Auburn games with more rushing yards for the Tigers and fewer rushing for their opponents. Since Auburn had 139 rushing yards and LSU had 238 in LSU’s 48-18 victory on Oct. 14, Auburn had 153 rushing yards in a 28-21 loss to Ole Miss on Oct. 21, 186 rushing yards in a 27-13 victory over Mississippi State on Oct. 28 and 230 rushing yards in a 31-15 victory over Vanderbilt on Nov. 4. The Rebels had 223 rushing yards, the Bulldogs had 184 rushing yards and the Commodores had 100 rushing yards.

4 NCAA FBS programs are in Tennessee, and Missouri already has beaten three of them this season. The Tigers defeated Middle Tennessee 23-19 on Sept. 9, Memphis 34-27 on Sept. 23 and Vanderbilt 38-21 on Sept. 30. Missouri goes for the Volunteer State sweep on Saturday when it faces Tennessee.

4 SEC Defensive Player of the Week and three SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week awards have been won by Ole Miss players this season after Rebels S John Saunders Jr. won the former award and DT Zxavian Harris won the latter honor for Week 10 on Monday. Georgia players have won one SEC Defensive Player of the Week Award and one SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week Award in 2023, with the Bulldogs’ Nazir Stackhouse sharing the lineman award with Harris for Week 10. Georgia leads the SEC in scoring defense and total defense this season. Ole Miss ranks seventh in scoring defense and 11th in total defense in the SEC in 2023. Ole Miss and Georgia square off on Saturday.

14 Consecutive victories for South Carolina in games against Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks haven’t lost to the Commodores since a 24-17 setback on Sept. 4, 2008, and South Carolina leads the series 28-4 overall, its best record against any NCAA FBS program that it has played at least 10 times. The run against Vanderbilt is South Carolina’s longest winning streak against an SEC opponent. The Commodores and Gamecocks square off again on Saturday.

24 Consecutive home games have been won by Georgia, tied for the longest such streak in school history and the longest current streak in the nation. Georgia had a 24-game home winning streak that began with a 42-0 victory over Texas A&M on Sept. 13, 1980, and was ended by a 13-7 loss to Auburn on Nov. 12, 1983. The current home streak began with a 21-0 shutout of Kentucky on Oct. 19, 2019, a week after a 20-17 loss to South Carolina at Sanford Stadium. Ole Miss visits Athens on Saturday.

26 Years since Kentucky defeated Alabama. The Crimson Tide leads the series with the Wildcats 38-2-1, with Kentucky’s victories coming 6-0 on Nov. 18, 1922, and 40-34 on Oct. 4, 1997. Alabama has won the seven meetings since the 1997 game. The Tide and the Wildcats square off again on Saturday.

29 Consecutive victories for Alabama when the Crimson Tide’s game kicks off at noon or earlier local time. Alabama’s most recent loss with a morning kickoff came on Dec. 31, 2004, when Minnesota defeated the Tide 20-16 in the Music City Bowl. Coach Nick Saban has a 27-0 record at Alabama in games that have kicked off at noon or earlier local time. The Tide plays Kentucky on Saturday, with kickoff set for noon EST.

33 Victories for Florida, 33 victories for LSU and three ties in the Gators-Tigers series. LSU has won the past four meetings, equally its longest streak in the series. The Tigers also won four consecutive games against the Gators from 1977 through 1980. The teams have squared off annually since 1971. Saturday’s game is the first for which LSU is ranked but Florida is not since 2003, when the Gators upended the No. 6 Tigers 19-7.

316 More receiving yards against conference competition for LSU WR Malik Nabers than any other player in the SEC. In the Tigers’ six league games, Nabers has 51 receptions for 877 yards and seven TDs. Nabers’ average of 146.2 receiving yards per game is more than 50 ahead of the No. 2 player, Ole Miss WR Tre Harris, who has 30 receptions for 561 yards and two TDs in SEC games in 2023.
