SEC announces Alabama football’s full 2024 kickoff windows schedule

Alabama football’s 2024 schedule is a bit more set after a Tuesday kickoff time announcement from the SEC. The Crimson Tide, which already knew when its first four games of the season would begin, found out the rest, though several games were given windows, but not exact times.

In previous years, the SEC would announce kickoff times throughout the season, as it balanced games between tv partners. The league no longer has games on CBS, making so ABC and ESPN can set kick times ahead of the year.

ESPN designated some games on the schedule as “Afternoon,” meaning they’ll begin between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. CT. Alabama had one game in that group, its Sept. 5 road trip to Vanderbilt.

The Crimson Tide’s home matchup with South Carolina was set for 11 a.m., and its Nov. 16 tune-up against Mercer at Bryant-Denny Stadium will kick off at 1 p.m. CT. The South Carolina game will be aired on ESPN, and the Mercer matchup will be the Crimson Tide’s designated SEC Network+ game.

Alabama already knew the times for its first four games of the year. The rest were all listed as another new designation, ESPN’s flex games, which could kick off between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. CT.

Those games included an Oct. 19 away battle at Tennessee, the Oct. 26 game in Tuscaloosa against Missouri, a trip to LSU on Nov. 9, another road game on Nov. 23 at Oklahoma and the Nov. 30 Iron Bowl at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The flex games could be played in either the afternoon (2:30-3:30 p.m.) or night (5-7 p.m.) windows.

The exact start times will be announced no later than six days before the scheduled games according to the SEC. The flex games also did not have TV channels announced.
