Search continues for Georgia duck hunter after kayak capsized on Lake Guntersville

A missing hunter in Jackson County has been identified as as Brooks Hardie, 22, of Georgia.

Around 8 a.m. Saturday, Hardie was duck hunting from a kayak on Lake Guntersville when the kayak capsized, causing that person to then go underwater.

The hunter did not resurface.

The incident occurred near Goose Pond Resort. The search resumed around 8 a.m. Sunday.

As of early afternoon Sunday, Hardie had not been located.

Troopers with Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division, ALEA’s Aviation Unit, officers from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR), and Scottsboro and Jackson county rescue squads continue to search for the hunter, according to an ALEA press release.
