Seahawks welcome ‘University of Auburn’ star Derick Hall to Seattle
The “University of Auburn” malapropism epidemic has now reached the NFL.
Shortly after the Seattle Seahawks drafted Tigers edge rusher Derick Hall with the No. 37 overall pick on Friday, the club’s social media team sent out a graphic with Hall’s name and photo. However, the tweet also included the phrase “University of Auburn,” a common-if-incorrect reference we’ve seen in the recent past from recruits.

The team later corrected the mistake through the magic of … well … crossing out their mistake:
The Seahawks need not feel all that badly, however, for they are in good company. Legendary head coach Pat Dye used the “University of Auburn” phrase in his introductory press conference back in 1981.
