Scottsboro woman allegedly sent obscene texts, videos to minors

Marshall County investigators say a Scottsboro woman sent inappropriate messages, images and videos to minors in schools in and around the area.

Kasie Renea Stone, 40, has been charged with two counts of electronic solicitation of a child less than 16, transmitting obscene matter to a child by computer, and possession of obscene matter.

She is being held on $250,000 bond.

“We take crimes against children very seriously and will not tolerate this kind of behavior in our communities,” Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims said. “With smartphones and app technology, our children can become targets for sexual predators. We ask that parents know what social media apps are on their children’s phones and monitor their activity.”

According to Sims, the investigation began early last month with search warrants for several social media accounts as well as interviews with victims.

Agencies involved included the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office, DHR, Marshall and Jackson County Child Advocacy Centers, Scottsboro police, Marshall County Schools and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

“We believe there may be other victims and we encourage them to call Marshall County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency to make a report,” the agency said in a statement.
