Scott Frost returning to Central Florida as head coach, reports say
Scott Frost is returning for a second stint as head football coach at Central Florida, according to multiple reports.
Frost coached the Knights from 2016-17, posting a 13-0 record in his second season and a 19-7 mark overall. He left UCF to take over at Nebraska, where he went 16-31 in four-plus years before he was fired three games into the 2022 season.
The 49-year-old Frost would replace Gus Malzahn, who resigned last week to become offensive coordinator at Florida State. Malzahn — Auburn’s head coach from 2013-20 — went 28-24 in four years at UCF, including 4-8 this season.
After spending the 2023 season out of coaching, Frost was hired this year to work as an analyst for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams. Frost being hired at UCF leaves West Virginia and North Carolina as Power 4 conference schools with head-coaching vacancies.
