Sax in the snow? Check out hilarious videos from south Alabama’s historic winter storm

A historic snowfall in south Alabama had many residents capturing the moment in quirky and amusing videos that have social media chirping.

One such video pertains to a Mobile saxophonist playing his instrument in the snow with no shirt on under his puffer jacket.

In the video, which has garnered several thousand views across socials, Markes Johnson strolls outside against the backdrop of a rare winter snow blanket.

Johnson is heard comparing the snowfall in Mobile to Atlanta before telling the viewer to “watch this” as he proceeds to play Let It Snow by Boyz II Men.

Johnson told AL.com that a friend’s funny video inspired him to make his own post and try to showcase his talent.

“Well, I actually seen one of my partners, and he did, like, a little funny video out in the snow,” Johnson said.

“So I was just like, it’s snowing, I guess this is just a moment for me to showcase my talent, and to represent Mobile. So I just went outside on an impulsive decision and I told my brother to come record me, and boom it just blew up.”

As for why he wore no shirt Johnson said he felt the decision would add a little more comedy. In fact, Johnson revealed he initially intended to only go outside in his boxer while the temperature was below freezing.

But that thought quickly faded as he said, “I had to put something on.”

Commenters left hundreds of comments praising Johnson’s saxophone playing and demonstrating the talent Mobile has to offer.

Johnson said he currently leads the band called Bay City Brass Band and hopes to put out an album soon as he does music full-time.

Aside from Johnson several other south Alabamians took the opportunity to have fun with the once in a lifetime snowfall.
