A man has been charged with fatally shooting his wife at the Eight Mile home late Saturday night, according to Saraland police.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 7200 block of Hardy Drive in Eight Mile about 11:36 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, officers found the victim — identified as Geneva Kennedy — with a gunshot wound and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kennedy’s husband, 43-year-old Charles O’Neal Milton, was still at the residence and police determined he was the prime suspect. He was transported to the Saraland Police Department, where he was interviewed by detectives, after which he was charged with murder.

Milton was transported to the Mobile Metro Jail, where he remained held without bond as of Monday afternoon.
