Sand Rock rolled past Pleasant Valley 79-29 on Friday in girls high-school basketball action, giving coach Lisa Bates her 500th varsity career win. Bates is in her 25th season as a head coach.

Bates also coaches junior varsity and junior high basketball and volleyball and is the head varsity volleyball coach at the Class 2A school in Cherokee County in Northeast Alabama.
