Saban goes coin toss in Sark-Smart pick as ‘GameDay,’ sans Corso, makes title game picks
Nick Saban doesn’t want to pick between Kirby Smart and Steve Sarkisian, so he let fate take over.
“So, I flipped a coin on this one last time because I didn’t want to pick against either one of the guys that did a great job coaching for me,” Saban said. “So, I’m staying with the coin toss. It came up Texas. It came up Texas again.”
ESPN’s “College GameDay” panel – along with celebrity picker Timothee Chalamet but without Lee Corso – went Texas Longhorns over the Georgia Bulldogs for the SEC Championship Game.
Except for Pat McAfee, who once again, left the panel and the crowd in stitches and wondering just who he would pick.
As a lot of people have said up here, this game has already been played,” McAfee said. “Who won? Who’s that coming down the track? It’s the mean machine in the Red and Black. Ain’t nothing finer in the land than a drunk, obnoxious Georgia fan. Go Dawgs!”
Then, however, McAfee paused.
“This Texas team is built with so much money,” he continued. “Steve Sarkisian came over here in his tight-ass pants. I picked against this Texas Longhorns team last week. How could I ever do it again? … Give me Georgia to win the SEC Championship. Welcome to the SEC, Sark! It was cute. Bulldogs by a million.”
Desmond Howard didn’t agree.
“The hardest thing to do in football is beat the same team twice in the same year,” Howard said. “I don’t think Georgia is able to do it. I‘m going with the Longhorns.”
Chalamet, who showed off his college football IQ throughout the segment, agreed.
“It’s hard to beat the same team twice,” he said. “Adjustments are made. It’s like a game of chess. Coach Saban knows this better than anyone. I’m going with my movie dad (Matthew) McConaughey here. Sorry to everyone here. Longhorns’ victory.”
Though Lee Corso wasn’t on set Saturday, the “College GameDay” crew made their conference championship game picks. Check them out:
