Saban curses while explaining NIL pitfall, leaves ‘GameDay’ panel in stitches

College football isn’t about the best guys, according to Nick Saban, it’s about the right guys.

Of course, during Saturday’s “College GameDay,” he made that point in a way that only the former Alabama coach could.

The topic was the Big Ten, and Michigan coming off a College Football Playoff national championship. Ohio State’s roster, which reportedly cost $20 million in NIL money, was a point of discussion.

The former Alabama coach, 72, pointed an obvious pitfall of name, image and likeness.

“I just wanna say you guys keep talking about a $20 million roster if you don’t pay the right guys, then you’re (s-word) out of luck,” Saban told the panel.

As you can see from the video above, his colleagues – Rece Davis, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit – reacted as you might think.

“Congratulations, you just broke the Internet,” Herbstreit quipped.

It isn’t the first time some used a swear word on set.

Lee Corso dropped an F-bomb more than a decade ago while he was trying to get the University of Houston mascot hat. He was originally going to yell the name of the winner through one of those cheerleader cones, but when that wasn’t working out as well as Corso had hoped, he clearly said “(F-bomb) It!”, tossed the cone down and pulled out the Houston Cougar mascot hat.

The Buckeyes open the season Saturday against Akron.
