Rylan Griffen commits to Kansas after leaving Alabama
Former Alabama basketball wing Rylan Griffen has chosen his next destination. Griffen announced his transfer to Kansas on Friday.
Griffen was a key member of Alabama’s Final Four team throughout the 2023-24 season. He hit 39.2% of his three-point attempts last season, providing an offensive spark plug at time during the NCAA Tournament run.
He announced his entry into the transfer portal once the season concluded. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Dallas native joined a Kansas team that has now brought in four top transfers after losing in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Griffen averaged 11.2 points per game throughout the 2023-24 season. He also contributed 3.4 rebounds per game.
Griffen was listed as the No. 3 shooting guard in the nation coming out of high school by 247Sports. He chose UA over Georgia, Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State, among others.
He’s one of six players to hit the transfer portal once the season ended for Alabama. Griffen joined Kris Parker, Davin Cosby, Sam Walters, Nick Pringle and Mo Wague.
Alabama’s incoming transfer haul includes Houston Mallete (previously at Pepperdine), Chris Youngblood (South Florida) and Aden Holloway (Auburn). The transfer portal remains open for undergraduate entry through May 1.
