Ryan Grubb: This QB would start for Alabama football if season started tomorrow, per Ryan Grubb

Alabama football offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb ended his spring press conference Monday with a bit of a shocker.

Answering the final question, Grubb decided to share where the quarterback battle stands, and he didn’t give a non-answer. In fact, he gave a clear answer and an update of substance.

“At the end of the day, if we’re playing a football game tomorrow, Ty Simpson would start,” Grubb said. “He earned that”

Grubb also praised Austin Mack and Keelon Russell, but he wanted to make clear Simpson remained at the front of the line if Alabama played Florida State tomorrow.

But the Crimson Tide doesn’t. It won’t play a football game until the end of August. So there’s plenty of time left in the quarterback battle.

“We’re not going to be satisfied with the quarterback group until it’s how it’s supposed to be,” Grubb said.
