Rocket City Dog Bar opening Friday in Huntsville
The alcohol will again be flowing at the site of a former Huntsville brewery — but with the addition of a dog park for man’s best friend.
Rocket City Dog Bar, the brainchild of three friends who gathered at the Salty Nut Brewery for trivia nights, opens Friday at 2404 W. Clinton Ave. in Huntsville — where the Salty Nut stood for 12 years.
“On a not-so-average Monday night at the Salty Nut Brewery in April 2023, an idea was formed. Winfield Keller pitched not just another bar, but a place where drinks met dog-friendly vibes. A watering hole with local drafts and plenty of space for you and your four-legged buddy,” the business’ website states.
“Trivia teammates Jeff, Garrett, and Maya, all dog lovers and Huntsville newbies, thought, ‘Why not? There’s always room for tail-wagging facilities in Huntsville!’…and with a dash of enthusiasm, a sprinkle of planning, and perhaps one too many ridiculous playlists, Rocket City Dog Bar was born.”
The dog park-slash-watering hole features 8,000-plus square feet for pooches to roam both on- and off-leash while their owners sip craft beer from Rocket City Dog Bar’s taproom.
Passes will be required for dogs to enter the establishment — ranging from $10 for a day pass for one dog to a $240 annual pass for one dog and $230 a year for each additional dog.
Rocket City Dog Bar also mandates vaccination records to ensure pups are up to date on their shots. Dogs must be at least 4 months old and current on their vaccination for entry and dogs older than 1 year must be spayed or neutered.
Dogless patrons don’t need to pay a fee to enter.
The bar will also feature special events such as trivia nights and movie nights.
