Alabama’s next defensive coordinator will not be Travaris Robinson.

After an eventful weekend – Kalen DeBoer was hired to replace Nick Saban and Robinson left for familiar faces in Georgia on Friday — multiple outlets reported on Monday that Robinson will be sticking with Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs after receiving renewed interest from DeBoer and the Crimson Tide.

Both ESPN and 247Sports reported that DeBoer embarked on a heavy pursuit of Robinson, affectionately known as “T-Rob,” by coaches, players recruits. Chris Low of ESPN said DeBoer and Robinson interviewed for “several hours” on Sunday.

Robinson, who has not commented publicly since Saban retired last week, changed his Twitter profile photo to a mock-up of him wearing a Georgia sweatshirt, changing his bio to “DB Coach at UGA.” It’s the same role he held in Tuscaloosa since the 2022 season. Robinson will also be Smart’s co-defensive coordinator, taking over for Will Muschamp, who announced he’d step down to an analyst position.

“I think it’ll happen, in some capacity, quicker here in the next day or so, the next 24 hours,” DeBoer said on Saturday when asked about filling out his staff. “I want to be very thorough and the fine line with that is as players are being sought after on our own roster there’s less people to get in front of them. Working tirelessly to manage who we have here.”

Per ESPN and The Athletic, DeBoer’s staff has come together with at least two holdovers from Saban’s group and a set of former Washington coaches who helped DeBoer and the Huskies to a College Football Playoff championship appearance.

All appointments have yet to be confirmed by UA.
