Robert F. Kennedy Jr. submits signatures for Alabama ballot access
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has submitted signatures to gain ballot access in Alabama for the presidential election in November, according to his campaign.
Kennedy, who is running as an independent, submitted over 15,000 signatures in Montgomery on Thursday, according to Stefanie Spear, press representative for the campaign. That’s more than three times the required number of 5,000, the campaign said.
“We are providing Alabama voters a chance to change the trajectory of our country from a negative to positive future,” said Oluchi Onwuvuche, the campaign’s Alabama state director, in the release.
Kennedy also submitted signatures in Arizona and Montana, his campaign said today.
Kennedy and his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, a California lawyer and philanthropist, are currently on the ballot in 22 states, including neighboring Tennessee, according to CBS.
This is just the latest in Kennedy’s push to get on the ballot in all 50 states, an endeavor he has previously said would cost at least $15 million and require more than 1 million signatures.
Kennedy has had a few legal challenges regarding ballot access, including in the state of New York, according to PBS. In New York, he’s alleged to have falsely listed the same New York address that was the subject of litigation in that state.
Kennedy made a campaign stop at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa back in January.
