Rich Homie Quan, Atlanta rapper and ‘Flex’ hitmaker, dead at 34
Rich Homie Quan, the Atlanta rapper known for hits such as “Type of Way,” “Lifestyle,” “Ride Out” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh),” has died at age 34, according to reports by TMZ, Rolling Stone and other media outlets.
Rich Homie Quan, whose offstage name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died on Thursday at his home in Atlanta, according to his family and a representative for the Fulton County morgue, TMZ said. Rolling Stone’s report also said a family member confirmed his death.
No cause of death has been revealed for the performer, an influential solo artist and former member of hip-hop collective Rich Gang.
Rich Homie Quan released one studio album, 2018′s “Rich as in Spirit,” along with several mixtapes, EPs and singles. He also earned fame for collaborations with other high-profile artists, including Gucci Mane, Boosie Badazz, Travis Scott, Yo Gotti, Jeezy, Omarion and Young Thug.
Rich Homie Quan earned nominations for BET Hip Hop Awards and an iHeartRadio Music Award, 2014-2016. He had 3.3 million followers on Instagram and 1.1 million followers on X (formerly Twitter). The last post on the artist’s Instagram is dated Sept. 2 and shows a photo of Rich Homie Quan wearing glasses. The accompanying text says “Vision clear even through the BS.”
