Rewinding everything Hugh Freeze said following Auburn’s win over Louisiana-Monroe

Auburn got back in the win column on Saturday, scoring a 48-14 win over Louisiana-Monroe in dominant fashion.

It was a game most expected Auburn to win easily, but nothing is guaranteed in college football, and the Tigers took care of business ahead of its final two games of the regular season.

Follow along below for live updates from Hugh Freeze’s postgame news conference:

  • Freeze starts the press conference by thanking the fans and the military.
  • Freeze: “Really proud of our kids and our effort and hopefully we gained some confidence headed into these last two huge football games.”
  • Freeze said the third down plan was good and he was happy with the execution. Auburn finished 12-for-17 on third down.
  • Freeze said he thought Payton Thorne played well, but said there were a few plays at the end of the half where he could have gone through his progressions more.
  • Freeze said they wanted to throw the ball a little bit more with Walker White, but said the thought he was “ok” outside of the fumble.
  • Freeze said the decision to play White after Thorne came out was no reflection on Hank Brown. Added that he wanted a chance to see White get some live reps before the end of the season.
  • When asked about the lack of penalties, Freeze said he can’t remember ever being on a team that had zero penalties in a game.
  • Freeze said he hopes that the performance from the receivers today gives the group confidence to keep the same plan against Texas A&M next week.
