Rewinding everything Hugh Freeze said following Auburn football’s A-Day practice

Auburn football has now completed spring practice, capped off by Saturday’s A-Day open practice.

Fans were able to attend as the Tigers ran through a normal practice inside Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday afternoon. An autograph session with the team will follow.

Here’s everything head coach Hugh Freeze is saying following the practice:

  • Freeze starts by saying this was one of the best springs he has been a part of, crediting how well Auburn has recruited the past two seasons.
  • Freeze points out interior defensive line, edge rusher and linebacker as positions to look at in the transfer portal. Also said they will “never turn down a good cover guy.”
  • Freeze points out that it was “really nice” being able to work with just two scholarship quarterbacks. Jokes that their arms might be tired.
  • Freeze gives more praise to Perry Thompson who he said made a few nice catches during Saturday’s practice.
  • Freeze said Deuce Knight’s late interceptions were a little out of character for him. Said both he and Jackson Arnold did a good job of taking care of the ball this spring.
  • When asked about leadership, Freeze said Champ Anthony and Keldric Faulk have stepped up despite not practicing this spring. Offensively, Freeze pointed out Damari Alston, Jeremiah Wright, Connor Lew and Horatio Fields.
  • Freeze said Arnold is “feeling fine” after not practicing on Saturday. Said there’s no defect in his hamstring, but they didn’t want to create one.
