Florida linebacker Jeremiah “Scooby” Williams, a Birmingham native, plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report Sunday by On3 Sports.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Williams, a four-star recruit in the 2021 signing class, totaled 53 tackles, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a sack in 12 games for the Gators in 2023. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Williams was named Class 5A Lineman of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association as a senior in 2020. He had scholarship offers from more than 35 schools — including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and LSU — before choosing the Gators.
