Report: Auburn expected to hire former LSU personnel director Will Redmond

Auburn is expected to add former LSU director of player personnel Will Redmond to a “general manager” position, according to multiple reports from On3, FootballScoop, ESPN and 247Sports.

Redmond, who has been LSU’s director of player personnel since 2021, was largely in charge of “maintaining LSU’s recruiting board, identifying players from across the country as potential prospects. He also oversees prospect evaluations and monitoring prospects throughout the year,” according to his bio on the LSU athletics website.

That job will be especially crucial in Auburn, as head coach Hugh Freeze continues to put a significant emphasis on recruiting at a high level.

Redmond was named FootballScoop’s player personnel director of the year in 2022.

LSU has had a top 10-ranked recruiting class in all but one year since his arrival. The one year LSU was outside the top 10, Redmond’s former program was ranked 12th.

Redmond is from Franklin, Tennessee. He went to Tennessee for his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He finished his graduate degree in 2015.

Redmond then began working his way up as a player personnel director beginning at Western Michigan, then Middle Tennessee State, then Kansas, then LSU and now Auburn.
